One of the ‘piyuttim’ found in the Haggadah Shel Pesach is the chant of “Echad Mi Yodea” (see lyrics below). This traditional song enumerates various concepts and teachings in a pattern of a fun and creative buildup. Motty took the first seven verses of it and – with a twist of Yiddish translation – composed an original composition, illustrating the poetic acuity and structural buildup of this beautiful, ancient hymn. The ‘second’ verse is, obviously, “שנים מי יודע” (Who knows two? I know two). Motty thought of an idea… How about having a duet and have ‘two’ people sing this? With the addition and stunning combination of the beautiful voice of the famous singer Yidi Bialostozky, the result was “one” of a kind! Nothing is more sweeter that the voice of a child expressing “four are our holy Mothers”! Child soloist Gershon Dovid Twersky (Meilech Luria) joined us and added such beauty to the entire concept.
Happy listening!
