More than 350 Muslim rioters who had barricaded themselves inside Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque were apprehended by Israeli authorities on Wednesday.
According to authorities, the rioters barred the mosque’s doors with iron rods, wardrobes, and other items after sneaking pyrotechnics, clubs, and stones inside.
Overnight, they attacked police with inflammatory chants, rocks, and fireworks.
After failing to persuade the rioters to leave the area peacefully, police were forced to enter the compound.
Israeli soldiers departed the scene once the rioters had been removed. In addition, the mosque was cleaned because the rioters “vandalized, defiled, and desecrated it,” according to authorities.
The Muslim Fajr prayer was conducted as scheduled, and police made every effort to make the location accessible to a sizable number of worshipers.
On Wednesday morning, the Israel Police stated that terrorist organizations continue to use social media to “incite reckless behavior,” “with fake publications reporting the happenings in the area.”
