The latest health data from the office of New York Governor Kathy Hochul has shown that the daily positivity rate has dropped to five percent on Thursday.
The data has also shown that the count of New Yorkers hospitalized with the virus slipped by 7% in a single day.
In view of the decreasing number of daily COVID-19 positivity rate, Hochul called on New Yorkers to “take the necessary precautions to keep our communities safe.”
“Vaccines are safe, effective and the best way to prevent serious illness from COVID-19,” Hochul said in the statement.
“If you haven’t yet, get vaccinated as soon as you can. Encourage your family members, friends and especially your children to get the vaccine as well,” Hochul added.
Hochul also called on residents to always remain vigilant.
“We believe we’re finally turning the corner on the winter wave,” the governor said.
“We’re going to continue preparing, though, for whatever the future brings,” the governor added.
