IDF Lt. Hadar Goldin was murdered in the Gaza Strip during the 2014 war, and according to images supplied by Hamas, his gun is visible.

This was revealed on Tuesday by i24News. Goldin was slain precisely nine years ago. The Palestinian terror group has been using Goldin and IDF Staff Sgt. Oron Shaul’s bodies as negotiating tools ever since they both died in combat.

Israeli citizens Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, who entered Gaza voluntarily in 2014 and 2015, respectively, are also being held captive by Hamas. Al-Sayed and Mengistu both struggle with mental illness.

Goldin was murdered on August 1, 2014, at the conclusion of the IDF’s Operation Protective Edge, in a gunfight close to Rafah. The 23-year-old Kfar Saba native passed away very suddenly.

Prior to this, Hamas allegedly showed Goldin’s gun at a gathering in Gaza held to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the terrorist organization’s establishment. A masked Hamas terrorist from the group’s “Shadow Unit,” which guards prisoners and the bodies of Israeli soldiers slain in battle, brandished the rifle.

The introduction of Goldin’s weapon, according to Jerusalem officials at the time, was psychological warfare intended to put pressure on Israel’s incoming administration.

Prisoner exchange negotiations have stalled because Israel won’t release dozens of Palestinian terrorists as demanded by Hamas.

An effort to bring the bodies of Goldin’s and Shaul’s sons home has been spearheaded by their families. Leah Goldin, who traveled to Washington with President Isaac Herzog recently, was given a standing ovation on July 19 when Herzog spoke to a joint session of Congress.

“I requested Leah Goldin, Hadar Goldin’s mother, to join us today. As Goldin rose to her feet to the cheers of American congressmen, Herzog remarked, “We hope for her son’s release, as well as the returns of the three other Israelis. Leah Goldin and other family members of the Israeli prisoners met Pope Francis at the Vatican the previous year.

Last August, the Goldin family organized a march to the Gaza Strip’s border and demanded that Jerusalem secure the release of their sons’ bodies.
