Governor Kathy Hochul suggested that a defective tire may have contributed to the fatal bus accident in Orange County on Thursday afternoon., which left two people dead and 42 others injured.
In Orange County, a charter bus bringing students from Farmingdale High School on Long Island to a band camp in Pennsylvania collapsed at 1:12 p.m., according to authorities.
According to officials, five students were hospitalized in severe condition, and two adults were slain.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the front tire’s malfunction most likely caused the accident. Hochul emphasized that an inquiry is still ongoing into the collision.
According to Hochul, the bus fell into a 50-foot ravine. “Imagine the fear and the screams in the aftermath when these high school students—many of them freshmen—were surrounded by this chaos,” Hochul said.
These children and adults were taken to safety within 45 minutes because of their perseverance and strength.
