Based on the latest health data, the state of New York has the most number of COVID-19 Omicron variant in the United States at eight cases wherein three of those were detected on Saturday.
Seven of these cases were recorded in New York City and the other one in Long Island’s Suffolk County.
In view of the rising number of Omicron in New York, governor Kathy Hochul called on New Yorkers to get vaccinated, get booster shots and wear masks.
“We knew the Omicron variant was coming and we expect to see more cases,” Hochul said.
Let’s use these tools to protect ourselves and our loved ones as we approach the holidays,” Hochul added.
Sources said none of the cases are believed to be related to the recent Anime NYC convention at the Javits Center where a man from Minnesota who tested positive attended.
