Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, arrived for a visit and prayer at the Kosel (Western Wall), as part of his official trip to Israel.
He was greeted by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the rabbi of the Western Wall, and Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, the director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, who gave him an explanation of the significance of the sacred site for the Jewish people and the nation’s enduring desire for it.
Mayor Adams declared, „We will continue to fight against anti-Semitism around the world“, during his visit to the Wall. One of the largest Jewish populations outside of Israel is found in New York City.
I want to send a strong statement as the mayor of New York City from this place, the homeland of the Jewish people, and to make us more determined to fight anti-Semitism.
We must find a method to coexist side by side, which is strengthened after exploring the Old City among the various religions.
Mayor Adams then added the following entry to the guestbook: „This wall of prayer is a symbol of hope.“
Let’s all agree that we can’t achieve our goals until we work together as a team, as we assemble for our wishes.
