
On Tuesday, the NYPD revealed a trio of hate-filled teens chased a 13-year-old Jewish boy off a Staten Island bus, snatched his yarmulke off his head, and ran off with it.
The NYPD has already released surveillance images of the suspect and is asking the public for assistance in identifying and apprehending them.
Based on the latest NYPD data, anti-Semitic hate crimes have spiked 48% this year compared to last year.
The NYPD said the victim was riding an MTA S79 bus on Hylan Blvd. in New Dorp when two teenage boys and a teen girl began harassing him at about 6 p.m. on July 21.
The NYPD added that when the bus stopped near Ebbitts St., the trio chased the teen off the bus, snatched the yarmulke from his head, and ran off with it.
According to reports, NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force members are investigating the case.
