The New York Police Department is now hunting down two suspects who shot an off-duty police officer who was visiting a Harlem housing project on Saturday afternoon.
The NYPD said the police officer had just left a memorial service for a resident of the Manhattanville Houses at the project’s community center, on Broadway near W. 130th St. around 4:30 when the suspects shot him repeatedly.
The police officer immidiately sought cover after he suffered wounds to his left foot from the attack.
The suspects hurriedly escaped in an unknown direction after the shooting incident.
The police officer is now in stable condition and undergoing treatment at Mount Sinai/Morningside Hospital.
Sources said the police officer is the seventh NYPD cop shot this year.
