Or Eshkar’s family donated his organs to five people after his death on March 20 from a gunshot wound he received in a terror assault in Tel Aviv on March 9.
A 65-year-old man was given Eshkar’s heart through transplantation. The liver was given to a man in his seventies.
A kidney was given to a 52-year-old and a 59-year-old. Also, a one-year-old received a liver lobe transplant.
Yedidya Sulimani, a father of four and a grandpa of 11, received a heart transplant. Arutz Sheva described it as “difficult” because the patient already had an artificial heart inserted.
The procedure took hours since we had to separate the artificial heart and reconnect the organic one, according to Professor Dan Aravot, head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Beilinson Hospital.
Yedidya was born with a healthy, youthful athlete’s strong heart that will aid in his speedy recovery and long life.
“After the transplant, he has already started breathing independently and interacting with his family and the medical staff.
Yedidya’s recovery process has my complete satisfaction, and we will stay with him until he resumes a respectable routine.
When I learned about the donation, I was deeply moved, and I immediately connected to what I had read about Or Eshkar in the media, Yedidya said. The family has my sincere gratitude.

Michael Osdon, 36, and Rotem Mansano, 34, were shot by the terrorist.
The three Israeli friends were ambushed while traveling to a wedding. After the shooting, the terrorist fled the area while still firing at bystanders before being killed in a gunfight with police.
“Or came to us after lengthy resuscitation attempts in the field, which were ongoing in the hospital,” said Roni Gamzu, director of Ichilov Hospital. “He was promptly transferred to the operating room where surgeons managed to stabilize his condition against all chances.”
He continued we were compelled to pronounce his death after a protracted struggle that lasted many days since the wounds were fatal.
The incident was the most recent act of terrorism to target Israel.
David Stern, 41, was critically hurt when a terrorist opened fire on a car on Route 60 in the Palestinian hamlet of Huwara, close to Nablus, on March 19. Stern was able to shoot Leith Nazar, a 28-year-old native of the hamlet of Madama near Nablus, and render him just partially incapacitated (biblical Shechem).
Hallel Menachem and Yagel Yaakov Yaniv were brothers killed on Highway 60 near Huwara on February 26 by a Palestinian assailant.
