Three individuals perished in a horrible accident early Thursday in Monroe: Kalman Goldstein, his wife Sarah, and their 7-year-old daughter Miryam. The accident occurred on Highland Ave.
The family was reportedly asleep when the fire presumably started late at night.
The three house inhabitants were not found to have survived the fire after large fire and rescue crews arrived on the site and successfully put out the fire.
Detectives from the Monroe Police Department are closely collaborating with the Orange County Fire Investigators, the OC Medical Examiner’s office, and the Monroe Joint Fire District to identify the cause of the incident, according to a statement from the Monroe Police Department.
The Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Kiryas Joel EMS, and Chavivim all assisted the police at the scene.
“I want to thank all the emergency personnel from various agencies who worked through the night and into this morning. May God give them peace and courage as they carry out their duties in the Village of Monroe, said Mayor Neil Dwyer in a statement.
The investigation is still ongoing. Lavaya in Yeriem Church at 1:00 p.m.
