After 12 days of hiding, the NYPD finally nailed down a 59-year-old man who stole the scooter of a seven-year-old Jewish boy at 3528 12th Ave. in Borough Park, Brooklyn 7:20 p.m. on July 8.
The warrant squad of the 66th precinct picked up the suspect identified as Ufares Daniel at his residence in 575 Central Avenue, #307 Brooklyn, New York Monday morning.
The suspect was accused of taking the scooter of victim Simcha Rothenberg.
A case for criminal possession of a stolen property has also been filed against the suspect.
Rothenberg was riding his scooter when Daniel who was wearing a face mask approached him and asked βWhere is your mommy?β.
At that instance, Daniel also proceeded to push the victim and took away his scooter.
Luckily the victim was not harmed in the robbery incident.
The victim immediately reported the matter to their parents, who also responded by calling the police & Shomrim.
To erase the trauma of the young victim the local police have decided to give an e-scooter to him as a birthday gift.
Rothenberg accompanied by his father Pinny, personally received the scooter at the 66th precinct last July 13.
