After the three suspects were captured on Friday night, the Thursday night stabbing that occurred in the Gilo district in southern Jerusalem has been classified as a terrorist assault.
At first, the police weren’t sure if it was a terrorist attack or criminally motivated conduct.
Ohr Sayar-Weiner, a 25-year-old Jewish male, was attacked by the terrorists and stabbed 20 times, suffering life-threatening injuries. He underwent surgery at Shaare Tzedek Medical Center.
Ohr, a student at Hebrew University studying chemistry and biology, awoke on Shabbat and called his family. He is currently in a critical but stable condition.
The three terrorists, who are 17–19 years old, are Bethlehem residents. One of them had previously been detained in Israel for unlawfully staying there and having a knife on them.
The terrorist, who claimed he planned to carry out a stabbing assault, was given a four-month prison term by an Israeli court.
