On Sunday, Pope Francis reiterated his plea for the release of Israeli hostages held by Gaza’s terrorist Hamas authorities.

He also urged the creation of humanitarian corridors to aid Palestinians trapped in Gaza. Francis said during his Sunday Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square, “I continue to observe with profound regret what is happening in Israel and Palestine.

“I remember all the people, especially the children and the old.” The Pope reaffirmed his call for the release of the numerous Israeli hostages who were kidnapped and brought to Gaza last weekend during Hamas’ devastating raid into southern Israel.

Francis urged people to avoid making children, the elderly, women, and all civilians victims of the fight. Humanitarian law must be observed, he continued, “especially in Gaza, where there is an urgent need to guarantee humanitarian corridors and to rescue the entire population.” In the Holy Land, Ukraine, or anyplace else, the Pope pleaded with everyone to refrain from “shedding any more innocent blood.” Enough! Wars end in defeat every single time.
