To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Portugal on Wednesday became the first European country to ban entry to Israelis.
Portugal has decided to heed the recommendation of the European Union to restrict tourists from seven countries due to high virus infection rates including Israel.
Aside from Israel, Portugal also bans people from the United States, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro, and North Macedonia from entering the country.
Sources said the ban includes all Israelis, even those who are vaccinated or present a negative coronavirus test.
In a study published on Tuesday, Oxford University revealed Israel leads the world in the number of coronavirus cases per capita over the past week.
