Since Shavuos night, Rabbi Yerachmiel Gershon Ben Miriam Edelstein has been receiving round-the-clock tefillos at the Maayanei Hayeshua ICU in Bnei Brak.
While in the hospital, Rabbi Edelstein, 100, keeps to his routine, although his close assistants report that his status has been fluctuating the entire time.
“The Rosh Yeshiva needs the tefillos of the entire Jewish nation, and we see with our own eyes how the Tefillos are effective,” the aides claimed. Rabbi Edelstein’s condition, who has heart problems as well as pulmonary edema and a high fever, deteriorated on Sunday night.
The Ponovezh Yeshiva halted its normal lessons in order to lead a community prayer for the Rosh Yeshiva’s recovery.
Monday morning found him in a stable state. The public is being encouraged to add two chapters of Tehillim after prayers for Rabbi Edelstein’s quick recovery by the gedolim of Israel.
