Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar referred to Vladimir Putin as a “wise president” and expressed optimism that the Russian experience will serve as a “good example” in the Middle East at a meeting with leaders of various religions on Wednesday.
He spoke out at a time when Moscow is attempting to become a major participant in the Arab-Israeli conflict’s resolution.

The rabbi closed his statement by praying, “And God grant… you the strength to genuinely resolve the matter, so that there would be peace in the Middle East, and with God’s help across the world. In response, Putin stated, “Thank you for also focusing on our core values.
