Russian officials will reportedly seek the fragments of an American surveillance drone that American forces shot down in the Black Sea after a run-in with Russian fighter planes.
In remarks on television on Wednesday, Russia’s Security Council secretary, Nikolai Patrushev, stated that the country intended to look for the drone’s debris.
We will undoubtedly have to do so and deal with it, Patrushev stated, whether we can recover them or not. “I sincerely hope I succeed.”
U.S. According to National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, the drone flew in international airspace and over international waters when it collided with the Russian jet on Tuesday.
He emphasized that it was not unusual for a drone to fly over the Black Sea. According to Kirby, the recovery of the MQ-9 Reaper drone has not yet occurred, and its future is uncertain.
According to Patrushev, the drone incident highlighted the U.S. involvement in the fighting in Ukraine.
The head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, also stated that Russia could recover the drone’s fragments.
