One of only two Chasidic rabbis to support Governor Kathy Hochul’s campaign, Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum, wasted little time today slamming the Jewish community for its irrational “Trumpist” backing of her opponent.
The leader of one of the two factions of Satmar was heard discussing Election Day victory in a seven-and-a-half-minute audio clip that has been making the rounds on social media today. The lecture on Psalms was held this morning in Kiryas Joel.
Speaking to the audience, Rabbi Teitelbaum revealed that he had been informed this morning that he had won the poll, but that was not the case.
Instead, he had simply been using common sense to discover a method to shield New York’s yeshivas from the most recent round of secular education regulations, the Satmar grand rabbi said.
Rabbi Teitelbaum mocked some in the Jewish community as crazy devotees of the late President Donald Trump.
Rabbi Teitelbaum hinted that those Trump supporters are WhatsApp users in a similar spirit.
The town of Kiryas Joel put signs on Twitter thanking it for sending Hochul its bloc vote, while Arutz Sheva (https://bit.ly/3UDeHbY) claimed that Hochul called the Satmar Rebbe’s wife this morning to express gratitude for the support of the neighborhood.
