According to police, a seventh suspect has been detained and charged with the gruesome murder and dismemberment of Hong Kong model Abby Choi.
According to authorities, the 29-year-old lady was apprehended in mainland China and turned over to Hong Kong police on Tuesday.
The South China Morning Post was informed by a source that the suspect was an internet influencer.
The woman is charged with aiding one of the case’s suspects before escaping to mainland China.
Model and influencer Choi, 28, has more than 100,000 followers on Instagram. She appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, among other fashion publications.
She was featured on the cover of L’Officiel Monaco just moments before she was assassinated.
She was reported missing in Hong Kong on February 21. Authorities discovered some of her body pieces in a rental property a few days later.
Alex Kwong, Anthony Kwong, and their father, Kwong Kau, were all detained by the authorities along with Choi’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong.
They were all accused of murder. The apartment where Choi’s remains were discovered was rented, according to the police.
Jenny Li, Choi’s former mother-in-law, was also detained and accused of lying to law enforcement. Without a bond, the four family members are still in custody.
The woman who was detained on Tuesday, along with the other three people held in the inquiry, has not been identified. All three, according to police, assisted other suspects in the case.
Authorities think Choi and her ex-family husband’s planned the brutal murder because of a financial disagreement they may have had.
