Shilo Yosef Amir, a soldier for the IDF, was murdered in the terrorist attack in Kedumim on Thursday afternoon.
Shilo, a resident of the holy kibbutz Kibbutz Meirav in the Beit Shean valley, served in the Givati brigade’s commando section.
On Friday morning, he was laid to rest at Jerusalem’s Mt. Herzl cemetery. His parents and four siblings are still alive.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident started when IDF security agents saw and halted a suspicious-looking automobile.
The terrorist inside the car started shooting at them as they were conducting the inspection.
The terrorist managed to flee while the forces exchanged fire. He was pursued by the soldiers, who eventually found him and neutralized him.
Amir suffered serious injuries in the shooting, and after numerous attempts at CPR, medical professionals were obliged to pronounce him dead there and then.
Shilo’s teacher in the Keshet pre-military program, Rabbi Shilo Marom, recalled that Shilo “was full of life, enjoyed life, and had a radiant expression.
He came here to define his own ideals as well as the values of the Jewish people because he wanted his military duty to have meaning.
He was an honest and loyal friend who loved to go trekking. Rabbi Marom said, “Despite the Jenin operation and the hard work, there is still more to be done to end the plague of Jews being slain in the land of Israel.
