According to authorities, a shooter has been detained in connection with the deadly shooting of a man waiting for the elevator at his public housing complex in Manhattan.
In connection with the murder of Jaden Stokes last month, Lindell Cox, 31, was accused of the crime.
Stokes, 21, was shot dead by Cox, who was wearing all black from head to toe and a mask over his face, moments after the victim and a friend pressed the elevator button in the Campos Plaza NYCHA project on E. the East Village on October 27 around 12th St. and Avenue C, according to police.
Jordan Lopez, 24, standing next to Stokes when he was shot, had a leg wound.
The violent footage shared to @NYScoop’s Instagram account demonstrates how hard the EMTs tried to save Stokes’ life and give him chest compressions in the lobby.
According to both families’ statements, the two men were strangers.
Stokes passed away at Bellevue Hospital after they were there.
In Manhattan Criminal Court, Cox was charged and ordered jailed without bail.
