
A gunman and four of his victims died in a shooting spree across the Denver metro area on Monday night.
Denver Police Department Chief Paul Pazen said a male gunman went on a shooting spree that resulted in the death of his four victims.
Pazen said the first shooting occurred near 1st Avenue and Broadway that lead to the death of two women and the wounding of a man.
A few minutes later, another man was shot and killed near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Williams Street.
Sources said the shooting spree ended in neighboring Lakewood two hours later when the police shot dead the shooter who also killed another man in the area.
The local police said the fleeing suspect went inside Belmar Shopping center in Lakewood, firing at officers as he ran into a business.
In the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was fatally shot.
A deeper investigation of the shooting is now underway.
