According to authorities, six teenagers, including a 1-year-old child, were killed in a car accident early on Sunday morning on a motorway in middle Tennessee. One of the two adult victims had a critical injury.

When they arrived at the scene at around 2 a.m., emergency personnel discovered a car that was upside down and severely damaged.

Brent-Dyer, head of the county’s emergency management services office, said they would travel to the crash site in Robertson County.

According to a news release from Dyer, first responders discovered six females, aged 1 to 18, who had been thrown from the automobile and could not be revived.

Officials reported that a woman who appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle was taken to the hospital in severe condition. Authorities said that a man had minor wounds.

Officials reported that a second vehicle was discovered close to the damaged car, but its driver was unharmed.

No one was immediately able to identify those who were killed and hurt. It wasn’t immediately apparent whether they were connected.

The collision happened on I-24 close to Pleasant View and Springfield, and it caused hours of delays before it was finally reopened later on Sunday. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is looking into the cause of the collision.

The county emergency management office is organizing expert mental health and counseling services for the crews that responded to the crash.

Dyer’s news release states, “Our office realizes the immense difficulty of this scene.”
