
On approach to a Tanzanian airport, a tiny passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday morning, killing at least three persons, according to local authorities.
Twenty-six of the 43 passengers on board the Precision Air flight from the coastal city of Dar es Salaam, according to local police, were rescued and transferred to a hospital.
The aircraft was flying toward Bukoba Airport.
Tanzanian airlines operate under the name Precision Air.
Photos from news accounts depicted the plane in the lake, mostly submerged.
William Mwampaghale, the police chief for Kagera Province, told journalists, “We have been able to save quite a several individuals.”
