Due to their lack of proper traction, Michelin recalled more than 542,000 snow tires in the United States.

In documents made public by safety authorities on Thursday, the tire manufacturer claims that tires with insufficient traction might raise the likelihood of an accident.
Dealers will replace tires at no cost to the owners. Owners will start receiving interim notice letters on June 12. Once the replacements are available, they will get another letter.
According to the firm, incorrect tire pressure was used in the original tire testing. Michelin uncovered the issue via further tests.
The tire sizes are listed in a document that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has placed online.
