
Soft serve on-the-go ice cream and sorbet cups made by Real Kosher Ice Cream in Brooklyn, New York, are being recalled due to the possibility of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious infections and even death in young children, the elderly, and other immunocompromised individuals.
While listeria infection can cause high fevers, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea in healthy people, it can also result in miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
In the states of CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, IL, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, VA, and WV, SOFT SERVE ON THE GO CUPS were issued.
Canteens, grocery stores, and convenience stores distributed the recalled food to consumers.
The packaging for the recalled item is 8 fl oz. clear plastic cup. The item has a clear plastic lid with a seal and a spoon attached that resembles a soft serve cup served in an ice cream shop.
