Earlier today, a storm ripped through Brooklyn bringing down dozens of trees and live wires.
Right after the storm passed, the 24-hour emergency lines from Boro Park Shomrim and Flatbush Shomrim started ringing non-stop with calls from residents reporting flooded houses, downed trees and live wires, many of them blocking roads.
Shomrim received a call from a local resident that a downed tree is blocking the doorway to his house, trapping the people inside. The volunteers sprang into action and cleared the doorway freeing the trapped family.
Shomrim responded to another call of a tree that fell onto a car entrapping the driver, thanks to a quick response from Hatzolah and Shomrim, the pinned driver was extracted with no injuries.
Shomrim volunteers with special equipment went around from one call to the next draining floods, clearing dozens of trees, and securing live wires that have fallen from the storm.
