An attempted terrorist attack against Israelis at the Mumbai Chabad house was stopped by Indian intelligence agents.
Two suspects from Pakistan were detained.
They were in possession of explosives, a drone, and Google pictures of Nariman House, a five-story structure in the Colaba neighborhood of South Mumbai, with the intention of carrying out the attack in the ensuing days.
“The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) discovered several photographs from Google that belonged to the alleged owner of Chabad House in Colaba.
They let us know. In light of this, we have increased Chabad House’s already high level of protection.
A Colaba police officer told the Hindustan Times that a simulated drill was also conducted on Thursday at the center and outside areas.
According to a Sunday English-language newspaper, the ATS detained Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yunus Khan, 23, and Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki, 24.
According to a report on Channel 12 on Monday, the “Israeli security system” helped Indian intelligence agencies thwart the intended attack. During the terrorist attack that struck India’s largest metropolis in November 2008, the Chabad house was attacked in Mumbai, and men, women, and children were killed by Pakistani Islamist terrorists at hotels, a train station, and on the streets.
In 12 coordinated attacks, 175 people were killed, including nine terrorists, and more than 300 were injured.
Several occupants of the Chabad residence were being taken hostage by two of the attackers.
Along with four other hostages inside the home, Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his pregnant wife Rivka were killed.
