The basketball team from Yeshiva University cancels the game after the opponent breaks the Shabbat commitment

According to a tweet from the school’s director of athletics, the basketball team at Yeshiva University supposedly had to forfeit a game because they were not given enough time to warm up after Shabbat.

Greg Fox tweeted on Motzei Shabbos that the matchup with Farmingdale had been postponed.

He claimed that although the team arrived as soon as possible after Shabbos, they were not given time to warm up, endangering the players’ safety.

They were forced to cancel the game as a result. Fox stated that he had assurances that space would be available for the team.

It is shameful that an Orthodox Jewish team’s religious observance was not accommodated, even though it is unclear whether the opposing school or the NCAA is a fault.
