The doctor of President Joe Biden thinks the president has expected it to contract a highly infectious variant of the coronavirus spreading rapidly through the United States.

He has had body aches and a sore throat since his positive test.

According to reports, the variant, known as BA.5, is an offshoot of the omicron strain that emerged late last year, and it’s believed to be responsible for the vast majority of coronavirus cases in the country.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the president’s physician, wrote in his latest update that Biden’s vital signs, such as blood pressure and respiratory rate, “remain entirely normal,” and his oxygen saturation levels are “excellent” with “no shortness of breath at all.”

O’Connor said the results of the preliminary sequencing indicated the BA.5 variant does not affect Biden’s treatment plan “in any way.”

On Thursday, the White House announced that Biden, who is fully vaccinated, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The White House says Biden, 79, who is also twice boosted, is suffering from mild symptoms of the coronavirus.

“Folks, I’m doing great,” Biden tweeted.

According to reports, despite his condition, Biden will continue participating in his planned meetings at the White House “via phone and Zoom from the residence.”

House Press Secretary Jean-Pierre said Biden would stay in isolation until he gets cured of his sickness.

For first lady Jill Biden’s part, she told reporters that her husband is doing well.

Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House COVID coordinator, said Biden has a runny nose and fatigue but no fever.

Moreover, it was learned that Biden’s positive test comes as the highly transmissible omicron variant is the dominant strain in the U.S. Still, scientists say it poses a lower risk for severe illness for those who are up to date on their vaccinations.
