IDF troops conducted operations in the Askar refugee camp in Samaria overnight on Monday, destroying the residence of the terrorist who was responsible for the shooting attack in Huwara last February that resulted in the deaths of brothers Hallel and Yagel Yaniv.
Local Palestinians and IDF forces fought during the demolition, according to Palestinian sources. 58 people were hurt during the clashes due to gas inhalation, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
The home of the terrorist who committed the Huwara attack, Abd al-Fattah Hussein Ibrahim Kharusha, was ordered to be demolished in May by the commander of the IDF Central Command.
Nine days after the fatal attack on the Yaniv brothers, Kharousha was killed by Israeli forces during a raid. Security officials think he planned to carry out another attack, which is what prompted the operation in broad daylight.
A gunfight broke out between security personnel and terrorists as they tried to capture him and other suspects.
Along with Kharousha, five other terrorists were also slain, and 23 Palestinians were injured.
After the terrorist’s family’s appeal was denied, a demolition order was issued. About two weeks earlier, IDF troops were operating in Shechem, mapping Khaled Kharusha’s house, the son of Abd al-Fattah Hussein Ibrahim Kharusha, in preparation for its destruction.
Khaled and Mohammed have been charged with intentionally causing death and possessing guns after helping their father organize the shooting incident.
The duration of their detention has been increased until the conclusion of the associated judicial processes.
