If everything comes into place, the popular Zebulon Simantov, the famed last Jew of Afghanistan could settle in Queens, New York.
Sources said efforts have now been started to bring Simantov to the Big Apple.
Among the people helping Simantov find asylum in the US is the US. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Sources said Simantov is eager to be given the chance to find residency in the US particularly New York.
“I like everything in New York. Everything is exciting,” Simantov, 62 said.
Simantov said if he gets his wish to live in Queens he plans to do business in the area.
“I am a businessman, I’ll do business there,” Simantov said.
Simantov also looks forward to a glass of Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch ($225-plus per bottle) when he arrives in the US.
Simantov’s rescue from Afghanistan was made possible through the effort of Israeli-American businessman Moti Kahana, who organized the international effort from his cattle farm in Randolph, N.J.
Aside from Simantov, Kahana has also played a role in dozens of other rescues of vulnerable Afghans from the country.
