Looks like health authorities in Israel need to step up further in battling the deadly COVID-19.
This scenario emerges after the latest Oxford study shows Israel tops the world in virus cases per capita last week
Based on the COVID-19 number released by Oxford, Israel is averaging 1,013 new daily COVID cases per million people over a week, surpassing Georgia and Montenegro.
Just this Monday, Israel confirmed 10,900 new coronavirus cases, the highest number of daily cases since the start of the pandemic.
Sources said the last time Israel recorded over 10,000 daily cases was on January 18, during the deadly third wave.
Health authorities expect the numbers to rise even more in the coming days following the opening of the school year on Wednesday, followed shortly later by Rosh Hashanah.
