The United Nations was scheduled to present its antisemitic prevention strategy during a meeting with Jewish leaders and international antisemitism envoys in Cordoba, Spain, the next week.

Due to a ferocious debate over the details of the draft plan, it has been postponed.

That paper, which the UN disseminated two weeks ago, is “deeply flawed and has drawn much criticism,” according to Rabbi Andrew Baker, the American Jewish Committee’s director of international Jewish affairs, who spoke to JNS.

“It was obvious that Cordoba would not produce any agreements.” Miguel Moratinos, high representative for the U.N. coalition of civilizations and the U.N.

On June 9, a letter inviting potential attendees to the conference was sent by the focal person for monitoring antisemitism and improving a system-wide response.

“After very careful consideration and aiming to ensure the action plan is inclusive and benefits from the inputs of all stakeholders, I would like to allow more time for further work and finalization of the plan during summer 2023,” he wrote.

The conference, which was originally scheduled for June 20 and 21, has been postponed to September; no new date has been established.
