Following Netanyahu’s statements, they shook hands. When discussing his own family’s experience of surviving the Holocaust, Blinken noted that he was “not just the secretary of state but also a Jew” when speaking to journalists.
So, Blinken remarked, “Prime Minister, I understand personally the horrifying resonances that Hamas’ massacres carry for Israeli Jews as well as Jews everywhere.”
