Veteran Kenyan marathoner and 2020 Tokyo Olympics women’s marathon winner Peres Jepchirchir is one happy and proud woman on Sunday.

Jepchirchir won the women’s division of the 2021 New York City Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 22 minutes, 39 seconds.

The second place in the category went to another Kenyan runner Viola Cheptoo.

The third place went to Ethiopia’s Ababel Yeshaneh.

In the men’s category, Albert Korir also of Kenya won the crown with a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 22 seconds.

The second place went to Morocco’s Mohamed El Aaraby.

The third place went to Italy’s Eyob Faniel.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Clinton, the 41-year-old daughter of former president Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is one of the famous personalities who joined the same marathon event.

Clinton joins the widely popular annual race on behalf of the food non-profit City Harvest.

Both Bill and Hilary Clinton supported their daughter in the marathon.

Aside from Chelsea Clinton, the other A-list stars spotted in the NYC marathon are MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Willie Geist, model Christy Turlington, and Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford.

The A-listers were joined by around 30,000 other runners who weaved through all five boroughs, starting at the Verrazzano Bridge in Staten Island and making their way to Central Park.

The 50th edition of the NYC Marathon was a huge hit since the public missed it after being canceled last year over COVID-19 concerns.
