Trump abandons his second legal action against the New York attorney general

Donald Trump, a former president, withdrew a different complaint against Letitia James, the state attorney general, this time about an appeal regarding her probe into his trust.

Trump and James’ attorneys said on Tuesday that they had agreed to dismiss the appeal with prejudice, which ruled out further consideration.

In May last year, the former president challenged a federal judge’s decision allowing the AG’s probe into the Trump Organization to move forward.

The court rejected Trump’s claim that Democrat James was unfairly scrutinizing and picking on him politically.

Both the former president’s family and they have denied any wrongdoing.

James said she saw the lawsuit’s withdrawal as a success even if no explanation was provided in Trump’s one-page petition in a federal district court.

She released a statement in which she expressed her happiness that Donald Trump has dropped both of his pending charges against her office.

“As we have demonstrated, we have a strong legal case against him and his group, and we will not be intimidated or deterred from pursuing it.”

Last week, Trump withdrew a lawsuit he filed in November seeking to stop the attorney general’s office from getting documents and records from the personal trust he set up to hold his commercial holdings after he became president.

Attorneys for Trump said that James had “repeatedly misused her position as Attorney General for the State of New York to pursue a vendetta against President Trump” in the lawsuit, which was filed in Florida.

James has filed a $250 million civil fraud case against the former president.

James’ civil lawsuit against Trump will go to trial in October, according to New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron.
