Trump calls for a protest and claims he anticipates being arrested

A New York grand jury is looking into hush money payments made to women who claim to have had sexual encounters with the former president, and Donald Trump said on Saturday that his arrest is about to happen.

He also made an unexpected demand for his fans to demonstrate.

Trump proclaimed in a post on his social media platform that he anticipates being arrested on Tuesday, even though his attorney and spokespeople said that prosecutors had not been in contact with them.

His speech appeared intended to elicit outrage from his supporters ahead of the widely anticipated accusations and to expect a formal announcement from the prosecution. During a short period, his campaign began contacting his supporters for donations, while influential Republicans in Congress and even some declared and possible rival candidates announced statements in his defense.

Although the source of Trump’s Tuesday reference was unknown, a Trump lawyer, Susan Necheles, claimed that Trump’s post was “based on the media reporting,” A spokesman claimed that there had been “no notification” from Bragg’s office. The office of the District Attorney declined to comment.

Trump’s advisors and legal counsel have anticipated a possible indictment. In that case, he wouldn’t be taken into custody until he resisted being asked to do so.

Trump’s attorneys have already stated that he would adhere to protocol, which means he would likely agree to surrender at a New York Police Department precinct or directly to Bragg’s office.
