According to a statement made by his campaign on Sunday, former president Donald Trump will speak in Florida on Tuesday night following his expected arraignment in New York on charges connected to hush money payments.
After returning from Manhattan, where he is anticipated to turn himself in willingly, Trump is scheduled to make a speech at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Trump, a candidate for president in 2024, is accused of several counts of fabricating company documents, including at least one criminal infraction, according to two people who spoke to The Associated Press last week.
They discussed information that was not yet known to the public under the condition of anonymity.
A grand jury investigation into hush money payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to bury claims of an illicit sexual encounter led to Trump’s indictment.
As is customary in New York before arraignment, the charge has remained sealed.
Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina said in television interviews on Sunday that after reviewing the indictment once he receives it, he would decide what legal actions to take next.
He argued that it would be premature to speculate on whether he would submit a motion to dismiss the case or request a change of venue, even though defense lawyers frequently do both.
On ABC’s “This Week,” he said, “Look, this is the beginning. We’re too early to start deciding what motions we’re going to submit or not file, and we need to get the indictment and go to work.”
In advance of his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday, the former president is anticipated to fly to New York on Monday and spend the night at his Trump Tower in Manhattan, according to two individuals familiar with his intentions who spoke on anonymity to discuss Trump’s itinerary.
He is anticipated to arrive at the courts early on Tuesday to be fingerprinted and have his picture taken in a mug photo.
Detectives will complete the necessary papers for his arrest and look into any outstanding warrants or criminal accusations against him.
Following the conclusion of the booking process, Trump will show up in court for an afternoon arraignment.
That will occur in the same Manhattan courtroom where his company’s tax fraud prosecution and conviction in December and the rape trial of disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein took place.
On Friday, representatives from the Secret Service and the New York Police Department met and toured the courthouse to discuss security measures.
