At the light rail construction site in Jerusalem’s Bar Ilan Boulevard on Sunday night, a large contingent of hardline chareidi groups protested.
Some protesters broke the law, set fire to property, and blocked streets, leading to severe traffic jams in Jerusalem’s north.
Little ones who helped block the road were dragged away by the police. In a later statement, the police claimed that “protesters again tonight shamelessly manipulated minors to join in the rioting and disturbing the calm.
Numerous rioters even referred to the police as Nazis.
The demonstrators disrupted public order during what has since become a routine demonstration by blocking roads, throwing rocks at police, and causing damage to infrastructure related to the light rail project.
Police detained one person suspected of setting a fence on fire at the job site.
After over two hours of being blocked, officers could clear the route with the assistance of Border officers’ reinforcements.
