A Palestinian man with US citizenship was convicted to two life sentences for shooting dead a 19-year-old Jewish student in the West Bank last May 2, 2021.

A military court on Wednesday found terrorist Muntasir Shalabi guilty of murder for the death of Yehuda Guetta, a student at a yeshiva in the Itamar settlement.

In a statement, the Israeli military said aside from murder, Shalabi was also convicted of “several counts of attempted intentional manslaughter, and possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice”.

Based on court records, Shalabi, 44, was arrested by Israeli forces in May after he opened fire on passengers waiting at a bus stop at Tapuah Junction, south of Nablus, in the northern West Bank.

The attack killed Guetta and wounded two of his friends.

Sources said Yehuda’s father, Eliyahu Guetta is not too happy with the military ruling since he wanted a death sentence for Shalabi.
