According to the Polish Interior Ministry, a present that a Polish police commander got on a recent trip to Ukraine exploded at police headquarters in Warsaw, injuring the commander and a civilian employee.

The explosion happened on Wednesday at 7:50 a.m., according to the ministry.

What gift the Polish commander received during his business trip to Ukraine was not made clear.

On Sunday and Monday, the commander met with senior members of the Ukrainian Police and Emergency Situations Service, according to the ministry.

“The Polish side has urged the Ukrainian side to offer necessary explanations,” it said in response to the incident.

It further stated that the civilian employee did not require hospitalization while the police commander has been under monitoring at a hospital since Wednesday.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion on February 24, Poland, a country that supports Ukraine, has provided it with various services.

Poland has welcomed many refugees and offered military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
