Many dignitaries, including coalition MKS members and government ministers, visited Yosef Hatzadik’s tomb early Wednesday.
Large IDF forces guarded the worshippers after being attacked by Palestinians close to the tomb and returning fire. IDF soldiers were not reportedly injured.
Visitors to the Yosef tomb were Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu (Otzma Yehudit) and Minister of Culture and Sport Miki Zohar (Likud). MK Tzvi Sukkot and Lt. Col. (Res.) Moshe Levi, head of Hadassah International and recipient of the Medal of Honor, was also present.
Minister Zohar urged cooperation. I decided to go to Yosef Hatzadik’s tomb because everyone could see what was happening in the State of Israel.
The tribes of Israel are divided, and Yosef was the one who brought them together.
He decided to forgive his brothers for whatever they had done to him and considered Israel’s national peace paramount.
In the end, he continued, “Israeli unity is our strength as a nation, enabling us to overcome the many foes that the nation of Israel sadly has. “At this time, I urge all of Israel to come together in a spirit of shared responsibility, for we have no other land.”
According to Zohar, the holy location should be fully reopened to the public. “Even though the location belongs to the Jewish People, it’s terrible that we needed such a sizable military detachment to protect us from coming here. This is ludicrous, and we must change it.
It is a wonderful honor to pray at Yosef Hatzadik’s tomb, who was the first Jewish minister in history, said minister Amichai Eliyahu as he oversaw the prayer for IDF soldiers there.
One of the most significant Jewish heritage sites is Joseph’s Tomb, and seeing it helps us understand our country’s rich history.
We hope for the day when the Israeli flag will once more fly here in complete safety.
“We stand here at Yosef’s Tomb and draw strength from the foundations of the Jewish people,” declared Dagan. Despite all odds, we must note Yosef’s decision to remain united with his brothers. Although there are philosophical disagreements, no one can physically oppose his brother. We can take inspiration from Yosef, who maintained ties with his brothers despite all the difficulties, even though there is a minority in the country aiming to sever the country due to an ideological disagreement.
The return to Yosef’s Tomb in its entirety was another demand made by Dagan: “When we come to Yosef’s Tomb at night, on the one hand, the heart swells as we have the privilege to be here, but on the other hand, the heart shrivels up from the incredible pain that we need to come here like thieves in the night to one of the holiest places for the Jewish People.
The Jewish People expect the government to give the military the necessary resources to retake Yosef’s Tomb. The State of Israel can only safeguard this holy location.
