Video: Israel Unveils First-Ever Hypersonic Missile Interceptor

On Wednesday, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems of Israel said that SkySonic, the company’s hypersonic missile interceptor, was being developed.

Following the debut of what Iran claimed to be its first home-made hypersonic missile last week, the state-owned military contractor decided to make the project public.

Dr. Yuval Steinitz, chairman of Rafael, stated that the company “follows changes and dangers in the worldwide arena and, as in the past, advances and develops the most cutting-edge military technologies.

According to the business, SkySonic is nearing the end of development and will shortly conduct its first real flight testing.

The interceptor will be on display at the Paris Air Show the following week, and Rafael claimed it has already informed the Pentagon of the development.

Aerial defense systems can be more easily avoided by hypersonic missiles because they can move on complicated trajectories at speeds that are at least five times faster than the speed of sound.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, claimed that this missile “targets the enemy’s anti-missile systems and is a big generational leap in the missile field.”

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant seemed to address the Iranian government the day following Iran’s announcement.

“I overhear our adversaries prancing around with new weaponry.

We have an even greater reaction to any such development, whether it be on land, in the air, or in the sea sphere, with both defensive and offensive measures,” Gallant stated.
