New York City mayor Eric Adams is expected to call for tougher bail laws during his much-talked-about first visit to the state Capitol on Monday.
According to reports, Adams is set to meet with state legislators, including Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, in Albany at 10 a.m. to talk about the surge of violent crimes which has been blamed in part on lax bail reform.

Adams is exerting efforts to stop the surge of crimes in the Big Apple and is calling on lawmakers to allow judges to consider the “dangerousness” of defendants before deciding whether to release them from custody.
Sources said also part of the schedule of Adams is a meeting with the Assembly Democratic Conference and the Senate Democratic Conference later in the afternoon.
