
Authorities in Louisiana reported that two Baton Rouge police officers perished on Sunday when their helicopter crashed into a sugarcane field.
At two in the morning, the Robinson R-44 chopper took off. to assist with the pursuit and never returned, according to local media. It took several hours before anyone noticed the aircraft was missing, and a search was started.
Before 11 a.m., the wreckage was discovered.
The cops’ names are still being kept a secret.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome posted on Twitter, “On behalf of the City of Baton Rouge, I send my heartfelt sympathies to the families and coworkers of the BRPD officers who tragically lost their lives.”
Baton Rouge police officials did not immediately answer an inquiry for comments.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the collision is being investigated.
