Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican, issued a video on Wednesday in which he explains why he backs the Fiscal Responsibility Act, also known as the debt ceiling agreement.
Lawler, who represents Monsey, New Square, and other conservative neighborhoods in Rockland and Westchester, praised Speaker Kevin McCarthy and claimed that the bill satisfies three key criteria: it reduces spending, prevents the nation from going into default, and compels President Biden to engage in negotiations with GOP leaders.
