The alleged gunfire during an off-road vehicle rally in Mexico’s Baja California state, which left ten people dead and another ten injured, is being looked into, according to the authorities.
Videos on social media showed a rally in an Ensenada neighborhood being heavily shot at, along with at least three bodies lying on the ground.
Early on Saturday afternoon, the shooting led to a significant mobilization of army, navy, state, and municipal police units.
Gunmen at the demonstration opened fire on persons and vehicles, according to Baja California officials, from one vehicle.
Ricardo Iván Carpio, the state prosecutor, reported that the car had “perforations from gunshots and traces of blood inside.”
According to the state prosecutor’s office, crossfire evidence suggested it was an altercation between members of organized crime gangs.
There is a lot of cartel activity in Baja, California, across the border from California.
