
According to authorities, a car that ran a red light and struck another car in Brooklyn on Monday resulted in two fatalities and numerous injuries.
Firefighters who arrived on the scene at 18th Avenue and 64th Street in Bensonhurst discovered persons who needed to be freed from the wrecked car.
The two people injured the most were transferred to Maimonides Hospital Center in serious condition, but they could not be rescued.
According to police, a 49-year-old guy was traveling on 18th Avenue “at a fast rate of speed” when he ran a red light.
After that, he struck another car that was crossing 64th Street.
Then, that other vehicle jumped the curb and ran over some people. Stunning surveillance footage captured the incident.
The vehicle’s driver was detained.
